SCENE 1 – THE NIGHT EVERYTHING CHANGED

NARRATOR:

It was a quiet evening. Purnell was sitting alone in his room, looking worried and emotionally exhausted. After thinking about everything happening in his life, he decided to go jogging to clear his mind.

He put on his running shoes, grabbed his phone, and walked out of the house.

But before leaving, he received a mysterious message from an unknown number.

PURNELL:

“Who is this? And why are you telling me to stay away from Larry?”

Purnell stared at the message, confused. He tried calling the number, but it was switched off.

PURNELL:

“This is getting strange. I need to find out what’s going on.”

He put his phone away and started jogging down the quiet street. He had no idea that someone was watching him.

The streets were almost empty. Purnell continued running while listening to music through his headphones.

Suddenly, a black car appeared at the end of the road. The driver was moving at an extremely high speed.

Purnell looked up and noticed the headlights coming directly toward him.

PURNELL:

He desperately tried to move out of the way, but it was too late. A horrifying crash echoed through the street.

Purnell was thrown onto the road, seriously injured. His phone landed several feet away, its screen completely shattered.

The driver stopped for a moment. Instead of immediately calling for help, the person looked around nervously. Then the car suddenly sped away.

A nearby resident heard the crash and rushed outside.

NEIGHBOR:

“OH MY GOD! SOMEBODY HELP! THIS MAN NEEDS AN AMBULANCE!”

Within minutes, emergency services arrived. Purnell was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

At the hospital, doctors immediately took Purnell into the emergency room.

Jade was still at home when she received a phone call.

Jade froze. For a few seconds, she couldn’t even breathe.

Her legs suddenly gave way, and she collapsed onto the hospital floor.

She covered her face with her hands and began crying uncontrollably. The doctor quietly walked away, leaving Jade devastated.

Meanwhile, Larry was at home, lying comfortably in his bedroom. He had already heard about Purnell’s accident, but he was pretending to be asleep whenever someone entered the room.

When Jade’s heartbreaking cries echoed through the house after she returned from the hospital, Larry slowly opened his eyes. He listened carefully.

BROOKE (WHISPERING):

She quietly stepped away from the door.

The following morning, Jade was sitting on the living room sofa, holding Purnell’s photograph. Her eyes were swollen from crying.

Later that afternoon, Brooke secretly approached Jade. She looked nervous and kept checking whether anyone was nearby.

JADE:

“What happened? Why are you acting so strangely?”

Brooke took a deep breath.

“There’s something else. Before Purnell’s accident, I saw Larry talking secretly to someone outside the house. They were arguing about money and a car.”

Jade’s expression changed.

JADE:

“What car? Who was he talking to?”

BROOKE:

That evening, Larry went outside to make a private phone call. He looked around carefully to make sure nobody was watching.

LARRY:

The person on the other end began speaking. Larry’s face suddenly became serious.

He paused and listened.

LARRY:

He ended the call and quickly returned inside.

Later that night, Larry fell asleep on the sofa. Jade quietly approached his phone, which was lying on the table. Her hands were shaking as she picked it up.

Jade covered her mouth in complete shock.
