D’Nisha’s Cousin Wants the Job
D’Nisha never imagined that bringing her cousin along just to show her the office and explain her job would eventually create such a big problem for her.
That day, D’Nisha brought her cousin to Van’s Forecast Office. As soon as they walked inside, D’Nisha smiled and started showing her around.
“This is my desk,” D’Nisha said. “This is where I handle everything every day. Whatever assistant work Van needs, I take care of a lot of it.”
Her cousin looked around the entire office carefully. She glanced at the computer screens, the desks, and everything around the workplace.
“Wow, D’Nisha! I really like your office,” she said excitedly.
D’Nisha laughed.
“Really? Do you like the office, or do you like my job?”
“Both!” her cousin immediately replied.
D’Nisha assumed she was joking. But her cousin was actually becoming serious about the job.
“By the way… does Van need another assistant?”
D’Nisha looked at her.
“What are you thinking?”
“I want to do a job like this too. Can you talk to Van for me?”
D’Nisha stayed quiet for a few seconds before giving her a small smile.
“Look, it’s not that easy. Van decides for himself who he wants to work with.”
“But you can at least talk to him, right?”
“Just leave it for now. If there’s an opening, I’ll let you know myself.”
Her cousin said nothing after that. But D’Nisha had no idea that her cousin had already made another decision in her mind.
After leaving the office, D’Nisha’s cousin started trying to find a way to contact Van herself.
She tried asking D’Nisha for Van’s number again, but D’Nisha gave her the same answer.
“I told you, just leave it for now. If there’s a position available, I’ll tell you.”
Her cousin agreed on the surface, but secretly decided that she would find a way to contact Van herself.
After several attempts, she finally managed to get Van’s number.
She held her phone in her hand for several minutes, unsure whether she should call him or send a message first.
Finally, she decided to text him.
“Hi Van, I’m D’Nisha’s cousin. You probably don’t know me, but I wanted to talk to you about a job opportunity.”
For a while, there was no response.
Then suddenly, a message appeared on her screen.
“D’Nisha’s cousin?”
“Yes,” she replied immediately.
“What did you want to talk about?”
She explained everything.
“I saw D’Nisha’s office, and I really liked the work she does. I would like to work with you too. If there’s an assistant position available, I’m interested.”
Van did not respond for a while.
Then another message appeared.
“If you want to talk about it, we can meet in person.”
D’Nisha’s cousin was surprised. She never expected Van to agree to meet her so easily.
Van told her to come to his house so they could discuss the opportunity.
The next day, she arrived at Van’s house.
“You’re D’Nisha’s cousin?” Van asked when he opened the door.
“Yes.”
Van motioned for her to come inside.
“Come in and sit down. D’Nisha mentioned you, but she didn’t tell me that you would try to contact me yourself.”
His comment made her a little nervous.
“I just want a chance,” she said.
Van looked at her carefully.
“Do you really think you can handle this job?”
“Yes. I believe I can.”
The two continued talking about the job for quite some time.
Van asked about her skills, experience, availability, and whether she could handle the responsibilities that came with the position.
She answered every question confidently.
But during the conversation, Van suddenly asked a question that changed the entire mood.
“Does D’Nisha know that you’re here?”
She remained silent for a few seconds.
“No.”
Van raised his eyebrows.
“So you got my number without telling her?”
“I tried talking to her about it. But she didn’t take me seriously. I felt like if I didn’t try for myself, I might never get the opportunity.”
Van remained quiet.
He seemed to respect her ambition, but he also understood that things could become complicated if D’Nisha found out.
Meanwhile, D’Nisha still had no idea what was happening.
She was busy with her regular work and assumed her cousin had probably forgotten about the job.
But later that evening, Van asked his team a few questions about D’Nisha’s work.
“What if we need another person for the assistant role?”
D’Nisha immediately became confused.
“Another person?”
“Nothing has been decided yet. I’m just looking at my options.”
D’Nisha’s expression changed.
She could not understand why Van was suddenly talking about another assistant.
Then she remembered what her cousin had said.
“I want to work too. Can you talk to Van for me?”
D’Nisha’s heart suddenly sank.
Had her cousin already contacted Van herself?
Just then, her phone vibrated.
It was a message from her cousin.
“D’Nisha, I need to tell you something.”
“What?” D’Nisha replied immediately.
A few seconds later, another message arrived.
“I already met Van.”
D’Nisha stared at the screen in complete silence.
The biggest shock was not that her cousin had met Van. It was the fact that she had done it behind D’Nisha’s back.
“You didn’t get his number from me… so how did you reach Van?”
“I found it myself.”
D’Nisha now realized that the situation was becoming serious.
But the biggest surprise was still coming.
“Van said he’s considering me for the job.”
D’Nisha slowly put her phone down.
If Van really gave her cousin an assistant position, what would happen next?
Would they both end up working in the same office?
Would Van start giving her cousin more responsibilities than D’Nisha?
Or could her cousin’s arrival put D’Nisha’s own position at risk?
And the biggest question of all…
Was D’Nisha’s cousin simply looking for a job, or was her secret meeting with Van about to create a completely unexpected new twist in the office?
The next morning, D’Nisha received a message from Van.
“We need to talk about your work. Come to the office.”
D’Nisha stared at the message for several moments.
She had no idea what Van was about to tell her.
And she had no idea that her cousin had already created a place for herself in Van’s plans.
The question was no longer just whether D’Nisha’s cousin would get the job…
The real question was: if she did get the job, could she become the reason D’Nisha loses hers?
